Ruby on Rails Developer
The Ruby on Rails Developer keeps our sites at peak performance, carries out required maintenance and writes elegant code that powers the expansion of our sites. This position requires a unique person who can not only develop robust web sites and applications, but who can also manage the backend hardware and software that keeps a consumer-focused e-commerce site running. This position reports to the E-Commerce Manager.
Essential Functions of the Job:
System Administrative Function
- Manage and maintain web and database servers.
- Monitor load balancing and server performance; monitor logs; carry out monthly reporting and audits; test security functions and update system patches and software; provide on call maintenance in case of system crashes, power failures etc.
- Work closely with IT department to ensure e-commerce integration with ERP systems.
Web Development Function
- Work with E-Commerce Manager and freelance designers and /or outside agencies to develop new Web sites, micro sites, promotional emails etc.
- Design, code, and test technical solutions to implement new features into existing Web sites.
Position Requirement/Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- Systems Administration experience managing a Linux environment (System includes Apache, Ruby, Mongrel Cluster, mySQL, SSH)
- Experience managing and implementing version control system (CVS, SVN)
- At least 2+ years in RoR development
- Excellent knowledge of HTML and understanding of web standards
- Ability to understand front end User Interface development requirements
- Expertise with JavaScript and frameworks such as Prototype, jQuery, MooTools,YUI
- Strong working knowledge of the DOM and AJAX
- Experience with other scripting languages such as PHP

- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience

- Minimum 5 years related job experience

Territory Manager
We are currently seeking to fill four Territory Manager positions, in the following areas:
- AK, WA, OR, ID, MT
- Northern CA and Northern NV
- CO, WY, UT, AZ, NM
- TX, OK, AR, LA
Description
Manage and grow business in a set geographic territory in conjunction with Inside Sales support, as defined by BUSA, LP and Director National Sales. Maximize sales to existing accounts via controlled sell-in, inventory management, controlled sell-through, and proper, cost efficient sales support efforts (marketing strategies, clinics, trunk shows). Grow territory via active prospecting and soliciting of new accounts, so as to grow- not impede upon- existing account base. Participate as active member of sales team, including group meetings/phone calls, sales meetings, and regional shows as requested/needed. These expectations, as outlined, pertain to ALL brands distributed by BUSA, LP.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Plan/execute annual shipment goal(s) provided by BUSA, LP or other Birkenstock licensed brands. Ensure that sales efforts reflect needs of corporate sales plan, as well as that of the individual.
- Communicate with customers regularly to ensure proper sell in, inventory levels, and sell through. Maintain relationships at all levels, and ensure superior customer service.
- Develop/set annual business plans with ALL accounts in territory, in conjunction with Inside Sales support; direct customers’ efforts toward achieving these goals.
- Plan/schedule/execute face-to-face business review meetings on a monthly (minimum, or as required) basis with top 20% customers.
- Prospect, research and solicit new businesses using competitive set, cold calls, and web search (and others avenues as applicable) as prospecting tools.
- Communicate weekly schedule and business updates to Director National Sales.
- Communicate regularly with credit department to maintain account base’s financial health and profitability.
- Manage all aspects of territory expenditures (T&E, daily ops) with responsibility and prudence, and with regard to cost efficiency and profitability.
- Execute and maintain the territory’s Major businesses, in conjunction with and designated by the Director National Sales.
- Perform necessary sales support functions (clinics, trunk shows, marketing promos) as directed by Director National Sales.

Degrees/Certificates:
College/university degree is preferred.
Job Experience:
Wholesale sales experience a must.
Footwear wholesale/retail sales experience a plus but not required.
