Guys. Earth Day is fast approaching and I wanted to tell you about a little thing I’m doing to celebrate. Remember those Birkenstock SPD bicycle sandals? Well, the good folks at Mountain Soles (who fashioned the original pair) are customizing a special pair for me. The picture above is about what my commute to work will look like on Earth Day, April 22nd, 2010. FOR 25 MILES! Through the Marin Headlands!

I’m not entirely sure how long this will take me, or even what route I’ll be taking. But, you can be sure that I’ll be taking pictures and posting to twitter throughout the day with a recap blog post to share with everyone.

Should I be looking for sponsors to donate to a charity? What if I don’t make it? AHH, the pressure! If you need me I’ll be out riding my bike to prepare.

Kids these days. KIDS THESE DAYS ARE WEARING BIRKENSTOCK. These two look like they’re taking a breather from a day-long session at the local skate park. There’s no better way to treat your weary feet after a full day of ollies, kickflips, and 50-50’s than by throwing on your favorite pair of Arizonas. Additionally, kudos for the black and white photograph. What is it about the B&W that instantly make a photograph more awesome?

It’s been all sunny skies, metaphorically, for me here while I’ve been running the Birkenstock 365 photo project. 200 business days in and I couldn’t be happier with the endeavor. All of your photos are so wonderful and selecting just one each morning has proven a great start to my days here.

Hey there everybody! By now you may or may not know that we sponsored a music event at SXSW last Saturday in Austin, TX.

I mean, the guy looks pretty harmless but he must have a pretty strong connection with both his K-9 and his Birkenstock Arizonas. Either that or the dog just really loves the sandals. Either way we’re happy to see that the footwear of choice are getting the appropriate amount of protection from covetous neighbors.
